One of my favorite beauty brands to-date is the millennial pink staple Glossier. Recently in one of our lecture courses we were asked to stand and share what our favorite brand was and I shared Glossier. They were one of the first business models that I followed that grew their brand and following by doing single product releases. This created somewhat of a trend in the beauty space with many other famous brands following suit including the infamous Fenty Beauty.

Since it’s launch in 2014, the brand has expanded into skincare and bodycare with also a short live stint in retro-colored makeup with the segment “Glossier Play” They’ve have several other notable accomplishments on the business side as well with a billion-dollar “unicorn” valuation in 2019 and an announcement of a fully funded grant program to Black-owned beauty brands after the social justice movement of 2020.

I can continue to go on and on but the thing that makes Glossier most notable is what got us here in the first place: their product. Glossier provides a quality product in premium packaging for a fraction of the cost of prestige beauty brands. Their notable social media presence keeps the brand on trend with the asks and needs of the beauty climate and there no-makeup makeup approach allows them to provide something for everyone.
